Google Ads IP Address Exclusion
Don’t want your ads appearing on a certain site? You can now exclude the IP address from displaying your ads. This is a welcomed addition as it will exclude all sites hosted on that one address saving you grief over figuring out all the possible domain names. Warning….this is also a bad thing as some machines host a number of domain names which may not be related. You could be blocking sites you don’t want to block. Use only when it’s imperative to block.
Google Always Tweaking
Now this shouldn’t be a surprise…Google is constantly tweaking how search results are presented. It allows them to be competitive and screen out the undesirable sites. This is a good read on the business of search from The NYT.
Last Click Credit
This shouldn’t be new to anyone in marketing. If you ask someone how they heard about your business, they’ll give you the last place the heard about you instead of the first. Nor will they give you all the places they went that drove them to your business. The same with click advertising. The last click gets credit for the sale. It’s the only way to automatically track it. Someone could first hear about you from a neighbor. Track that with a cookie.
The point is you should have a well rounded advertising program. Be in the places where people are likely to find you. Do the things that attempt to track your marketing but don’t shoot yourself in the foot by putting too many eggs in one basket….or removing eggs when you shouldn’t.

Google, the mighty obtainer of all data, has aquired FeedBurner. A big pat on the back to FeedBurner for having created a great product….so great that Google wants it. If you haven’t seen FeedBurner, it’s past time you checked it out.
