It’s just like something from a gossip column. Yahoo! set to merge with AOL? Or at least talk about it. This doesn’t mean much for searchers or search marketers yet as a merger like this would take years, but interesting coffee break conversation none the less.

AOL has purchased another company within one week timeframe. Now it’s Israeli social search Yedda. Yedda is a social search and answers service similar to Yahoo! Answers. It allows people to ask questions, matches their question to similar ones and helps them find an expert to answer the question. It’s one place where people can set themselves up as an expert in a field.
AOL recently released search data which includes user names and who knows what else. Privacy be damned, your searches are public now. Here’s a good chance to check on your kids and coworkers to see what they search for. And AOL is losing customer why? Oh yea! They keep doing dumb things. AOL search data mirrors
